The Asset section contains information on strength based approaches to help communities, families, children, and youth. You will find general information on Assets, Developmental Assets, Protective Factors, and Resiliency, from some of the best sites on the internet on these subjects. The section on Effective Community Mobilization contains a best practice and evaluation information. The Madison County Community Council is a great example of a coalition with an extensive track record of accomplishments. They functioned for about three and a half years on a shoe string budget, and all volunteer efforts. During these first years they were able to have a significant impact on the community, families, and youth. After about three and a half years they began to receive some very large grants which increased their impact on the community. After about seven years they had their first Americorps member, which was their first time with even a part time staff member.
